J.P. ran a very successful threshing business and all of his sons, and many of his grandsons, worked on his threshing crews during the summer. Bob’s son Royden Blair Scott recalled spending part of his summers working for his grandfather J.P. on the threshing crew. Blair’s memories of J.P. during this time were of a quiet, hardworking man who kept the younger boys away from the dangerous threshing machine. They were relegated to the other manual labor required by the crew. He said J.P. (like his son Bob) laughed often and always knew the latest joke and pun.
